Abstract reading/writing into ::transact_command() 
Also move end-trimming logic into ::read_line() to allow trimming
zeroes correctly.

Basic SerialPort wrapper 
No real functionality, just a basic version info check to make sure that
the device being communicated with is actually the RN2903.
